Wallace Gusler demonstrates and instructs how to make a Golden Age, four-piece patch box with piercings in a traditional manner. Using a fine rifle by 18th century gun builder John Haymaker for inspiration, Wallace also shows how to make an unusual and clever hidden patch box release as was used by Haymaker. This video also introduces the evolution of the patch box, featuring four original rifles. Engraving the patch box is not covered. This production documents a master of his trade teaching in detail the techniques used by colonial era gun makers in creating what is perhaps the single most distinguishing feature of a Kentucky Rifle.
